The Boggo Road heritage prison is currently closed pending the completion of nearby construction work.
It is expected to reopen later this year, hopefully under an improved management model. A push is currently underway to make this happen, and you can help by signing the petition linked below here, leaving a comment, and SHARING it around.
The prison has been under-utilised and over-priced for a decade. The private management experiment has failed, especially when compared to the enormous success of the not-for-profit heritage prisons around Australia, including Old Melbourne Gaol, Fremantle Prison, and Port Arthur. Queensland can do better.
